Community and Family Learning is promoted by Harrow Council to provide a wide choice of learning opportunities for all ages and abilities across the borough in partnership with our providers.
With the providers of community and family learning in Harrow working in partnership you will find that learning is accessible to you - in your local school or library, a College, a community centre, a temple, even in a children's centre.
Our courses are funded or subsidised by the Mayor of London or the Education & Skills Funding Agency but a lot of our courses also incur a fee; however they may be available with no fee or at a discount if you're unemployed or on means-tested benefits and are actively seeking work.
How to enrol
You can enrol online or in person at Kenton Learning Centre
Online
Visit www.learnharrow.ac.uk and register. Most courses are available for immidiate enrolment but for English, ESOL, maths and IT you will have to register for an assessment and interview
In person
You can make enquiries, enrol and make payments at Kenton Learning Centre between 10am-4pm. Please note that the centre is closed during August.
Kenton Learning Centre, 86 Glebe Avenue, Kenton, HA3 9LF
Who can enrol?
Anyone aged over 19 can join the Learn Harrow courses regardless of where they live or whether they work. To qualify as a “home student” you must have been resident in the UK or the EU for the last 3 years. Some people may be exempt from this rule so please call us to check. If you have not resided in the UK or EU for the last 3 years and are not exempt you may still join the course and pay the full cost of the course. Please contact us for more information about paying the full cost.
Fees
The course fee is shown for each course. If you receive means-tested benefits, are a jobseeker, or if you are working but earn less than £21,157 a year if you live in London and £18,525 if you live outside London, you may be eligible for a concession. If you think you are eligible for a concession you must pay in person at Kenton Learning Centre. Please note that you will be required to show recent evidence of receipt of benefits or your level of income. In this case you may only enrol on 1 adult learning and 1 family learning course at any given time.
Cancellations, refunds and transfers
Learn Harrow reserves the right to cancel a course at any time. We will contact you by text or email if this happens. For refund of fees please see the Refunds and Transfers below.
If Learn Harrow cancels a course before the start date, you will receive a full refund. If a course is cancelled at any other time, you will receive a pro-rata refund. If you wish to cancel your booking please let us know in writing 7 working days before the start of the course. In this case we will refund the hourly fee and resource charge but not the registration charge. We will try wherever possible to offer suitable alternative courses. Learn Harrow reserves the right to cancel a course at any time. We will contact you by text or email if this happens.
For learners enrolling online there is a cooling-off period of 14 days. If you cancel within the 14 day period, you may be entitled to a refund (less a £20 administration fee). After the 14 day cooling-off period or if any classes have been attended, this will be treated as a withdrawal and full fee will be payable.
We are always happy to help you transfer to alternative courses
