Functional Skills English
This course will help you improve your English speaking, listening, reading and writing for everyday and working life. We offer courses for beginners and improvers with exams to help you gain a nationally recognised qualification.
On this course you will learn how to speak to communicate well in different situations, take part in formal and informal discussions, and read and understand texts such as letters, emails and application forms. You will improve your spelling, punctuation and grammar to help you write different types of texts and documents.

Introduction to Functional Skills.
If you are 19+ and you want to begin to learn or improve your English skills and get a nationally recognised qualification, this is the course for you. Functional Skills are the applied skills needed to succeed in all aspects of life, work and learning. You will identify and work towards your own goals on your Individual Learning Plan and learn to use reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in everyday contexts. At the end of the course you will take a Certificate in Functional English which will help you progress to further English learning such as GCSE or help you in your life and career.
These courses are offered at different levels so that you can study at the right level for you. You will learn new skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening that you can use in both your personal and professional life. The courses cover everyday skills such as speaking to communicate and engaging in discussion, reading and understanding texts, such as forms, letters, and emails. You will improve your writing by learning about English spelling, punctuation and grammar and you will practise writing a variety of different types of texts.
Courses take place in schools, libraries and children’s centres in Harrow.
